IMPORTANT FORMS

On Tuesday, every student received a packet of information and forms that SHOULD have gotten to a parents hand immediately. There are several important documents that students cannot do marching band without.

NOTICE: SOME OF THESE FORMS NEED TO BE NOTARIZED. That means that you should not sign them until you are in front of a notary public. IF you do sign them, you will have to redo the forms. We will have someone at our Band Booster Meeting on Tuesday evening notarizing. 

All forms are available on Charms under the “Handouts & Files” then under “Band Camp Forms“. You must be logged in to see all of the forms. These are the forms:

– Financial Commitment Pledge
– McGavock Handbook Agreement
– Permission to Medicate
– Notarized Medical Form
– Parent Consent to Participate

There are also several other forms that can be turned in or used such as the Band Camp T-Shirt order form and the Personal Donation form.

Part One Music Now Available

On The Way...

Part I of our 2015 Marching Band Production, “On The Way…” and our McBand Warmups are now available in the “Handouts & Files” section on Charms. You MUST log in to Charms in order to see the files in the folder.  If you are unsure about your password for Charms, please contact Antoinette Bransford to get it.

This would also be a GREAT time to make sure your contact information is correct in Charms so that we can contact you efficiently! 

Upcoming Rehearsals

*Important Rehearsals Upcoming:

*The first full rehearsal for the 2015 McGavock Marching Band Season will take place Tuesday, July 14 from 6 PM until 9 PM.  This rehearsal is mandatory for all members of the marching band. Please bring all instruments, music, warm ups, etc.  Please plan to arrive by 5:30 PM if you need to check out a school owned instrument from Mr. Womack.  Parents will also be present to collect physical forms, band camp payments, and other items. All students will receive a supplemental forms packet to take home. This packet includes mandatory information for band camp that must be turned in also on the upcoming season.

*The second full rehearsal will occur Thursday night, July 16 from 6 until 9 PM.  

*All new students and new marchers must attend the “New Student Day” on Friday, July 17 from 8 AM until noon at McGavock. Please wear comfortable tennis shoes and bring water!

*Other Important Reminders from the Calendar…

  • Pre Band Camp is the week of July 20th
  • Band Camp starts Sunday, July 26th and runs through Friday, July 31.
  • August Band Booster Meeting and Trip Kick Off Meeting, Tuesday, July 21st 6:30 PM (Please bring desserts)

Leadership Camp Info

Announcing the annual McGavock Band Student Leadership Camp for all students hoping to become leaders in the McGavock Band for the upcoming season. The camp will take place in the band room on Monday, July 13 from 9 AM until noon as well as Tuesday, July 14 from 1 until 4 PM.  Please bring pencil, paper, notebook, ideas, as well as a typed 2 page essay on “What is Leadership To Me and How Can I be a Leader this year”.  The camp is required for any students wishing to be named in an official leadership position this season.

I Received word from Data Marketing, that their customer has made several changes to the work and Data Marketing won’t have it printed in time for us to work this week. However, we are working next Thursday, June 18 and Friday, June 19

McBand Bash

Our Annual McBand Bash concert will be held on May 12th at 6:00PM including the McGavock High School Band with special guests, 8th graders from Dupont-Hadley, Dupont-Tyler, Donelson, and Two Rivers Middle Schools.

There will be important information given out at the concert about the McGavock Band and about next year’s Marching and Concert groups.

2015 Marching: On the Way…

The 2015 McGavock Marching Band production is titled “On the Way…” The show features selections from the film score to Pollock by Jeff Beal, Home by Philip Phillips/Piano Guys, and Uffe’s Woodshop by Tyondai Braxton. On the Way… will feature orange traffic barrels as a unique and cutting edge visual prop device. Bright neon orange will be a featured color throughout the production and be woven through in many different ways. The music and visual designs will lead the audience on a journey, eventually landing at our final destination…HOME. Using GPS/traffic sound effects and a fresh and modern soundtrack, the McGavock Band hopes you enjoy their 2015 production.
