Chris Mudd, Director of Bands
Mr. Chris Mudd is proud to serve as Director of Bands at McGavock High School. Mr. Mudd earned his degree in Music Education from the University of Louisville. He also holds a Master of Educational Leadership (M.Ed.) degree from Southeastern Oklahoma State University.
Mr. Mudd has taught at numerous high school and middle school band programs across the state of Kentucky and Tennessee– including White House High School, Merrol Hyde Magnet School, Casey County High School, Nelson County High School, Pleasure Ridge Park High School, and Adair County High School.
Mr. Mudd’s students have achieved such accolades as Bands of America Class A National Champion (2013, 2014, 2015), Bands of America Regional Champion (2014, 2015, 2016), Tennessee State Finalist (2023), Kentucky Governor’s Cup (2015), Kentucky State Finalist (2013, 2014, 2015, 2016). His marching and concert bands consistently receive Superior Ratings and “Best in Class” awards in MTSBOA, MSBA, TBA, and KMEA sanctioned events. Mr. Mudd’s ensembles have performed at numerous festivals including the University of Tennessee JazzFest, Kentucky State Concert Band Festival, Disney Magic Music Days, and PASIC Day of Percussion.
Mr. Mudd’s professional affiliations include the National Association for Music Education (NAfME), National Education Association (NEA), Tennessee Music Educators Association (TNMEA), Tennessee Bandmasters Association (TBA), Kentucky Educators Association (KEA), Kentucky Music Educators Association (KMEA), Percussive Arts Society (PAS), and Music for All.
Above all else, Mr. Mudd finds fulfillment in knowing that his students will go on to be lifelong learners and leaders in the adult world.
